This week ‘kicks off’ the beginning of the most competitive part of our soccer team’s schedules. It starts with the Harwood girls team visiting today and their boys arrive on campus tomorrow. These games are traditionally very well played and bring lots of excitement. We hope to see you out on ‘the upper’ showing your support for the wolves.
As a reminder, we are working hard to promote good sportsmanship at Peoples Academy and across the state. This looks and sounds like, letting the players play, coaches coach, and referees ref! We want opposing teams and referees to feel welcome, respected, and comfortable at our events. Please cheer loud and proud for the home team and let the bad calls go. If you’re not yelling something positive, you probably shouldn’t be yelling it. If you need to report something at an athletic event, please find a site administrator. In our case, that would be AD- Gabi Silva or HS Principal- Phil Grant at most games/events. Remember that we are there to listen and help, but will remove fans if bad fan behavior is witnessed. There is also a reporting form on the VPA Website if an issue arises and you feel it is necessary to report further.
If you have not had the chance to watch the VPA Sportsmanship Video, please see the video linked HERE. We encourage everyone to take the time to watch this video and reflect on your role at athletic events. We are here to support and create a positive learning environment for our students and we thank you for helping us with this.
