Growing lifelong learners through joy, curiosity, connection & community.

Dear Stowe Elementary School,

I hope that you enjoyed the beautiful spring days that started this week as we gear up for the latest winter storm. Classrooms are buzzing in anticipation of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. School will be closed for the full day on 4/8. If your family is interested in learning more about the solar eclipse, here are some great resources to check out:

The eclipse will also be live streamed from the Fairbanks Museum. You can learn more here on Vermont Public’s website.  We will be providing each child with a pair of eclipse glasses that will be going home on Friday.

Please join us tomorrow night, April 4th for the annual Stowe Elementary School Talent Show! Students have been hard at work perfecting their acts. The show starts at 6:00 in the SES gym and there is a suggested donation of $5.00 for admission. We hope that you will join us!

Yours in learning,

Maura Wieler

In the coming weeks, Stowe Elementary School students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the annual Vermont Comprehensive Assessment Program (VTCAP) through the Vermont Agency of Education. This assessment measures what students understand, know and are able to do in language arts and math for grades 3-5 and science for grade 5. This assessment replaced the Smarter Balanced assessment or SBAC assessment last year. It is important that students are in attendance when the assessment is scheduled and we appreciate your family scheduling around these important days.

After students have completed testing, Individual Student Reports will be sent to families as soon as they are made available by the state.  These reports will provide information on what your child learned in relation to the statewide academic standards. More information will be provided in a letter to families of students in grades 3-5.
